SNL has set its first show of 2022 with West Side Story actress Ariana DeBose as host and Compton rapper Roddy Ricch as the episode’s musical guest.
The long-running NBC sketch comedy series announced the news Thursday on the official Saturday Night Live Twitter account, saying the show will return from its holiday break on Jan. 15.

After the announcement went public, DeBose tweeted: “I’m hosting @nbcsnl. Hold please while I go collect my extremities, as I have exploded from excitement and sensible fear.”
The 30-year-old singer, dancer and actress plays Anita in the Steven Spielberg-directed adaption of the 1961 film and musical of the same name.

Ricch, a Grammy-winning performer, is currently promoting his sophomore album “Live Life Fast.”
SNL’s last show before the holiday break aired on Dec. 18 and was hosted by Paul Rudd without a studio audience due to the rising surge of COVID-19 cases fueled by the Omicron variant in the U.S. Musical guest Charli XCX did not perform for that episode.
It is still unknown if the Jan. 15 episode will continue with an in-studio audience or if COVID protocols will alter plans.
SNL airs live Saturday nights on NBC at 11:30 p.m. ET/8:30 p.m. PT
