The LAPD has launched an investigation into a shooting outside the home of music executive Amir Esmailian, known in music circles as Cash XO, who co-manages The Weeknd.
The shooting occurred on Monday just before 2:30 a.m. in the 17500 block Jayden Lane in the Encino neighborhood of L.A., police said.
A 37-year-old security guard suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
In a live report from the scene, KTLA 5 said the unidentified victim was sitting inside a guard shack, heard multiple shots fired and realized he was wounded. The man was transported to a nearby hospital and is expected to survive.

The guard told LAPD officers three suspects fled the scene. At this time, the suspects remain on the run.
A neighbor spoke with the TV station and said the upscale neighborhood is normally safe and has a lot of security cameras.
“I’m sure whatever happened here was captured on the security camera,” said area resident Kimberly, who did not give her last name. “So that can unfortunately bring danger with it too.”
The house where the shooting happened is currently listed for sale at $11,995,000. Pictures from inside the home are posted on real estate websites, offering a detailed look in the house.
Law enforcement sources told TMZ the shooting stemmed from an attempted home invasion robbery.
Esmailian is a talent manager, record producer and co-founder of XO Records. The Weeknd is the label’s primary artist.
