Another popular Black sitcom is being re-imagined for charity.

On Tuesday, Oct. 13, the next episode of “Zoom Where it Happens” — the online live table reading series launched by Black women to entertain viewers and encourage them to vote — will feature several big names portraying characters from the hit sitcom Sanford and Son.

The series starred Redd Foxx and Demond Wilson as a father and son duo running a junkyard in Watts, and ran for six seasons on NBC from 1972 to 1977.

Actress Sanaa Lathan will direct the table read, with NBA star Dwyane Wade, Cedric the Entertainer, Lala Milan, and Wayne Brady re-enacting the classic show for the Zoom series.

“For the fourth installment of ‘Zoom Where It Happens,’ Cedric will play Fred Sanford, Wade will portray Lamont, Milan will portray Rollo, and Brady will play multiple characters in addition to serving as the host,” the press release for the project stated. “The production team of this series includes Ryan Bathe, Aisha Hinds, Cynthia Erivo, Tessa Thompson, Kerry Washington, Rashida Jones, Stefanie and Quentin James, Latanya Richardson-Jackson, Channing Dungey, Karen Richardson, Issa Rae and Ava DuVernay.”

This is the fourth episode of “Zoom Where It Happens,” which kicked off on Sept. 8 with a virtual table read of The Golden Girls, featuring Tracee Ellis Ross, Regina King, Alfre Woodard and Sanaa Lathan.

Later that month, a live table reading of Friends was held with Gabrielle Union, Uzo Aduba, Sterling K. Brown and Jeremy Pope, along with Ryan Bathe, Aisha Hinds and Kendrick Sampson in the lead roles.

Last week, original 227 star Jackée Harry hosted a table read that featured Keke Palmer, Wanda Sykes, Loretta Devine, LaTanya Richardson-Jackson, and Blair Underwood reenacting an episode of the iconic sitcom.

The Sanford and Son episode of “Zoom Where It Happens” will debut Oct. 13 at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT. You can RSVP for the virtual show here.
