As her fans anxiously wait for Rihanna to release new music, the singer and entrepreneur says she’s just trying to decide which songs are right as her life evolves.

“Your taste changes, your vibe changes,” she said in an interview for the March issue of British Vogue.

The nine-time Grammy winner also discussed preparing for the Super Bowl halftime show and the joys of motherhood in the interview published Wednesday.

“It’s everything,” she said about welcoming her son with rapper A$AP Rocky nine months ago. “You really don’t remember life before, that’s the craziest thing ever.”

As for other big events in her life, the Barbados native admitted she was nervous about performing at Super Bowl LVII because it’s the biggest stage in the world — more than 113 million TV viewers watched the Feb. 12 event, according to Nielsen.

“I have not been on stage in seven years,” she said. “Seven years! From zero to Super Bowl? That’s mental.”

The singer released her last album Anti in 2016. The disc, which was her eighth studio album, included the hit singles “Work” (featuring Drake), “Needed Me,” and “Kiss It Better.”

Billboard ranked it #7 on the list of “100 Greatest Albums of the 2010s.”

Rihanna told Vogue she never stopped recording new music, but she’s put pressure on herself to top what she considers her most “cohesive” release to date.

“When you come off of an album like Anti… In hindsight, it really is my most brilliant album,” she explained. “I say that because in the moment, I didn’t realise it. But it always felt like the most cohesive album I’ve ever made. When you break it down and you realise this album goes from ‘Work’ to ‘Kiss It Better’ to ‘Needed Me’ to ‘Love on the Brain’ to ‘Sex with Me’ to ‘Desperado’.”

Still, she understands it’s time to toss aside her concerns and move forward.

“So I realised that if I keep waiting until this feels right and perfect and better, maybe it’s going to keep taking forever and maybe it’ll never come out and no, I’m not down to that,” she said. “So I want to play. And by play, I mean I have my ideas in my head, but I can’t say them out loud yet.”

The singer added that she hopes to release new music very soon, although Vogue noted that the interview took place before the pop star announced she is pregnant with her second child.

“I want it to be this year,” she said about releasing a new album. “Like, honestly, it’d be ridiculous if it’s not this year. But I just want to have fun. I just want to make music and make videos.”
