R. Kelly is in jail again, this time over unpaid child support.
The R&B singer was taken into custody Wednesday following a hearing in Chicago for failing to pay his ex-wife, Andrea Kelly, $161,000 in back child support by a court-ordered deadline.
Kelly’s publicist Darryll Johnson told The Associated Press the singer was prepared to pay $50,000 to $60,000. But when the judge demanded the full amount, he didn’t have it and was taken into custody.
“He didn’t come here to go to jail,” said Johnson.

Sheriff’s officials said the R&B performer would remain in jail until he pays his full child-support debt.
The arrest came hours after Kelly appeared in an explosive interview with CBS This Morning co-host Gayle King.
“I have been assassinated. I have been buried alive,” the Grammy winner said while denying the allegations by Chicago prosecutors that he sexually abused four females, including three underage girls.
Last month Kelly was charged with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse in the case, but insisted in the interview that he did nothing wrong. He called his accusers liars and said the allegations leveled against him in Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly docuseries — which brought renewed scrutiny on the singer — were untrue.
“If you really look at that documentary, which I’m sure you have, everybody says something bad about me. Nobody said nothing good. They were describing Lucifer. I’m not Lucifer. I’m a man. I make mistakes, but I’m not a devil, and by no means am I a monster,” he said.
At one point in the interview when King pressed him on the sexual misconduct allegations that have surrounded him for years, Kelly started yelling, jumped out of his chair and broke down in tears.
“Stop it. Ya’ll quit playing… I didn’t do this stuff. This is not me. I’m fighting for my fu–ing life. Ya’ll killing me with this shit,” he said.
