Questlove called on Kendrick Lamar and Drake to stop the “mudslinging,” but some social media users say the musician is “off base.”

The Roots drummer criticized the two rap superstars on social media for airing out each other’s dirty laundry through music.

Over the past several days, the hip-hop artists unleashed a string of diss tracks with accusations about secret children, plastic surgery, domestic violence and allegations about underage girls.

The rapid-fire insults came via a playlist that included “Push Ups,” “Taylor Made Freestyle,” “Euphoria,” “6:16 In LA,” “Family Matters,” “Meet The Grahams,” “Not Like Us,” and “The Heart Part 6.”

Questlove was not here for the drama.

In an Instagram post on Tuesday, May 7, he declared “Hip Hop is truly dead,” and said the rappers went too far.

“Nobody won the war,” he began. “This wasn’t about skill. This was a wrestling match level mudslinging and takedown by any means necessary — women & children (& actual facts) be damned.”

The Grammy-winning musician then criticized hip-hop fans for celebrating the drama.

“Same audience wanting blood will soon put up ‘RIP’ posts like they weren’t part of the problem. Hip Hop truly is dead.”

Questlove turned off the comments on his Instagram post, but social media users reshared it on X/Twitter and had plenty to say. The musician was a trending topic throughout Wednesday and many of the comments were brutal.

“Sensitive ass Questlove clutching his pearls left the hip hop chat,” X user @m1cod1n posted.

“I love @questlove… he is however very, very wrong,” added @DuffJuice30.

“Hip hop has been dead for about 5 years, Questlove. This past couple of weeks has been the first sign of life,” @JesalTV posted.

The hits kept coming on X.

“Questlove…. just hush,” wrote @lilacwiiine.

“First off, Questlove is a legend. That said, he couldn’t be more off base for his take. Not only was this battle good for the culture, it completely restored it by bringing bars, skill & competition back to the forefront,” @TheKidSkoob chimed in.

“Cornyyyy @questlove where was this energy when Meg the Stallion got shot?” added @NoirMisfit

One thing’s for sure, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and now Questlove have stirred up A LOT of debate.
