Shayanna Jenkins, fiancée of former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez, has criticized “cruel” jokes told at the expense of her late partner Sunday night at Netflix’s Tom Brady roast.
Jenkins told TMZ Sports Brady and some of the comedians on stage went too far.
“It’s sad that I’m trying to raise my children in such a cruel world,” she said on Monday, May 6.

Jenkins, who is the mother Hernandez’s only child, added that the couple’s 11-year-old daughter will one day see what was said about her dad.
Hernandez played three seasons with the Patriots before he was arrested on suspicion of murder.
He was found guilty in 2015 for killing semi-pro football player, Odin Lloyd. Two years later, Hernandez was discovered hanging in his prison cell, and his death was ruled a suicide.
On Sunday night, comedians Nikki Glaser and Tony Hinchcliffe both delivered punch lines about Hernandez, as did guest of honor Tom Brady.
Glaser said, “Give it up for zero-time Super Bowl champion Randy Moss! Why don’t you have a ring? What the hell man, you’re one of the best ever. Drew Bledsoe has a ring. Aaron Hernandez had a ring – around his neck.”
Hinchcliffe added, “Tom is afraid of the giants, which is why Kevin Hart is hosting tonight. It’s true. All night he’s been using the stool that Aaron Hernandez kicked from under himself.”
At the end of the night, Brady mentioned his former teammate.
“The bar for Patriot tight ends was pretty low back then — block, catch, don’t murder,” he said.
Last month Jenkins shared a tribute post on Instagram, saying Hernandez remained in her heart.
“It takes as long as it takes. I will always wake up everyday only to remember you are not here and have to feel that ache all over again,” she wrote. “You are truly loved & missed.”
