Power Book III: Raising Kanan is set to return for a third season on Dec. 1, with new crime figures on the scene.
Starz released the trailer for the new season on Thursday, Oct. 26. The video introduces new adversaries “Snaps” and “Pop,” played by Wendell Pierce (The Wire and Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan) and Erika Woods (Don’t Jump).
“Business is booming,” a grinning Pops says in the preview.
Set in Southside Jamaica, Queens in the 1990s, the Power prequel chronicles the early years of Kanan Stark, the character first played by franchise executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.

MeKai Curtis now stars in the titular role alongside Tony Award-winning actress Patina Miller as his drug-dealing mom Raquel “Raq” Thomas.
Per Starz, season 3 picks up where the crime drama left off, with the Thomas family in turmoil and reeling from the mob’s coordinated attack on Raq, Marvin and Lou-Lou.
“I’m done doing what I’ve been doing,” Raq says in the trailer.
But Italian mob boss Stefano, played by veteran actor Tony Danza, isn’t convinced. His crew snatches Raq at gunpoint for a face-to-face meeting with the mobster.
“I need somebody I can count on,” Stefano tells Raq, who insists she’s turning away from violence. “I disagree,” an intimidating Stefano responds.
Meanwhile, Raq’s devoted son Kanan expresses his independence. “I work for me,” Kanan declares.
The series also stars Omar Epps as “Detective Malcolm Howard,” London Brown as “Marvin Thomas,” Malcolm Mays as “Lou-Lou Thomas,” Hailey Kilgore as “Jukebox,” Joey Bada$$ as “Unique,” Shanley Caswell as “Detective Burke” and Antonio Ortiz as “Famous,” with Grantham Coleman joining the cast as “Ronnie” this season.
According to the official description for the new season, “After her close call, Raquel is looking to make a fresh start, but Kanan doesn’t trust her or believe it when she says she’s done. Can she really be out of the game? As the trailer claims, the truth is a lie, and Kanan’s been burned before.”
The drama is the second series in the expanded Power Universe franchise. Sascha Penn serves as showrunner and executive producer for season three. The series is co-executive produced by Power creator and showrunner, Courtney A. Kemp, through her production company End of Episode, 50 Cent through G-Unit Film and Television, and Mark Canton through Atmosphere Entertainment MM. Chris Selak, Kevin Fox, Santa Sierra, and Tash Grey also serve as executive producers. Lionsgate Television produces the series for Starz.
Season 3 of Power Book III: Raising Kanan debuts Dec. 1.
New episodes will be available weekly on Fridays at midnight ET on the Starz app, and all Starz streaming and on-demand platforms. On cable, the series airs at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT in the U.S. and Canada.
