OWN is ready to deck the halls with the announcement of three holiday movies coming to the network in December.
Up first on OWN’s holiday slate is A Christmas For Mary [shown above], starring Vivica A. Fox, sitcom veteran Jackée Harry, and actress Morgan Dixon (Being Mary Jane). Fox also serves as executive producer of the film.
Dixon plays ambitious journalist Lena who is trying to please her boss, played by Fox. As she visits a small town to learn about a portrait her grandfather painted, Lena is encouraged by her mother (Harry) to discover the memories of the past and follow her heart.
A Christmas For Mary premieres Dec. 8 at 9PM ET/PT.
OWN’s second holiday film is titled Cooking Up Christmas, starring Pitch actress Meagan Holder and Greenleaf’s Lamman Rucker.
Holder plays an Atlanta-based chef who is fired shortly before Christmas and tries to make ends meet by accepting a position as a live-in chef for a single dad (Rucker) trying to make it through the holidays.
Cooking Up Christmas premieres Dec. 15 at 9PM ET/PT.
Additionally, OWN announced it will be airing the holiday film First Christmas a couple of days before Christmas.
Tia Mowry serves as one of the film’s executive producers. The movie stars Idara Victor (Alita: Battle Angel) as young writer Halle, who is raised in foster care and receives the opportunity to spend the holidays with her biological family in New Orleans. Halle learns and embraces a new perspective during this special holiday with her new family.
First Christmas premieres Dec. 22 at 9PM ET/PT.
OWN officially starts its holiday programming with its previously announced Our OWN Christmas gospel music special hosted by Meagan Good and DeVon Franklin on Dec. 1 at 9PM ET/PT.
