Oprah Winfrey Hosting Virtual Town Halls in Key States Ahead of Election

Oprah Winfrey is hosting a series of virtual town halls ahead of the Nov. 3 election.

Winfrey shared details Monday about the gatherings, which are meant to “encourage, inspire and support voters” in key states as part of OWN’s Own Your Vote nonpartisan initiative.

“I wanted to talk to local voters, thought leaders, and voting rights experts across the nation so we’re all fully prepared to cast our vote as a country,” Winfrey shared on Instagram.

Oprah Townhall (OWN Network)

The media mogul is hosting the town halls in North Carolina on Oct. 27, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Pennsylvania on Oct. 28 and South Carolina on Oct. 29. All events will take place at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT each evening.

Featured speakers for the different events will include activist and podcast host Brittany Packnett Cunningham; Wisconsin’s 4th Congressional District Representative Gwen Moore; Kristen Clarke, President of Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights under the Law; Mayor of Charlotte Vi Lyles; NAACP Detroit Chapter Executive Director Kamilia Landrum; Vote.org CEO Andrea Hailey; activist Tamika D. Mallory; and more.
