The news prompted thousands of replies, and caused a frenzy among Minaj’s followers.

“I’m crying so hard omg,” one person replied

“Wait no!… it can’t be true, well if it is do you girl. I’ll support ya,” someone else said.

Another fan responded, “Nicki stop this ain’t funny I’m not prepared for this.”

There was also plenty of shade, with some Twitter users saying Minaj is calling it quits because of fading interest in her music.

The rapper, real name Onika Tanya Maraj, announced last month on her Queen Radio show that she and boyfriend Kenneth “Zoo” Petty plan to marry in “about 80 days,” according to People magazine.

Minaj, 36, said they “filed for the marriage license and we still had to pick it up and I was traveling, by the time I came back, we had to renew it again.” She also changed her user name on Twitter to Mrs. Petty.

Despite the hip-hop star’s happiness with Petty, some fans have expressed concerns about his past. He was convicted for attempted rape in 1995 and is a registered sex offender, according to New York state
government records. He also did time for first-degree manslaughter.
