Lisa Fleming, a bedridden Alabama woman who shed 200 pounds after appearing on TLC’s My 600-lb Life, has died. She was 50.
Her daughter shared the sad news Thursday on Facebook, and said she held Lisa’s hand for four hours after she passed away.
“I am truly at a loss for words right now. God knows I wanted you to hold on until I got here but He knew what was best for me,” Danielle Fleming wrote. “I didn’t need to see you like that! This morning I sat and held your hand for 4 hours knowing nothing I could’ve done would bring you back to me.”
Lisa weighed 704 pounds when she began her weight loss journey on My 600-lb Life earlier this year.
She said she had struggled with weight issues since childhood, and used food to cope with a series of family tragedies.

By the time she sought treatment on the show, her health had gotten so bad that maggots were discovered in the folds of her skin.
TLC offered condolences to Lisa’s family after learning she had died.
“Our deepest sympathies to Lisa’s family and friends,” the network tweeted, along with a link to a story about Lisa.
Danielle said Lisa continued to lose weight after appearing on the show in February, and could finally stand on her own.
Danielle added that her mom’s weight did not cause her death.
“At the end she was sick and her body was tired, and her body just gave out,” she told TMZ.
