Michelle Obama Urges Voters to ‘Stand in Line All Night’ to Oust Trump

Michelle Obama launched a blistering attack on President Donald Trump Monday night, urging voters to cast ballots in record numbers to remove him from the White House.

In an impassioned virtual speech on the opening night of the Democratic National Convention, Obama warned Trump is “in over his head.”

“Donald Trump is the wrong president for our country,” she said. “He has had more than enough time to prove that he can do the job, but he is clearly in over his head. He cannot meet this moment. He simply cannot be who we need him to be for us.”

The former first lady has been critical of Trump in the past, but her remarks Monday night were scathing.

“Whenever we look to this White House for some leadership, or consolation, or any semblance of steadiness, what we get instead is chaos, division, and a total and utter lack of empathy,” Obama said.

She added that Trump lacks a “moral compass,” and criticized his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“More than 150,000 people have died, and our economy is in shambles, because of a virus that this president downplayed for too long,” Obama stated.

She said former Vice President Joe Biden “is not perfect,” but he is the right man for the job.

“If we have any hope of ending this chaos, we have got to vote for Joe Biden like our lives depend on it,” she said.

“I know Joe,” she continued. “He is a profoundly decent man guided by faith. He was a terrific vice president. He knows what it takes to rescue an economy, beat back a pandemic and lead our country. And he listens. He will tell the truth and trust science. He will make smart plans and manage a good team. And he will govern as someone who has lived a life that the rest of us can recognize.”

She implored those listening to ignore efforts to suppress the vote, and do whatever it takes to cast their ballots.

“We have to vote for Joe Biden in numbers that cannot be ignored,” she said. “We’ve got to vote early, in person if we can. We’ve got to request our mail-in ballots, right now, tonight… We have got to grab our comfortable shoes, put on our masks, pack a brown bag dinner and maybe breakfast too, because we’ve got to be willing to stand in line all night if we have to.”
