NBC Cancels ‘Lopez vs Lopez,’ Ending Hopes for Season 4

Some bad news for Lopez vs Lopez fans. NBC has canceled the family comedy after three seasons.

News of the cancellation came just before the network’s upfront presentation, where networks pitch advertisers their upcoming programming lineups, according to a Friday article from The Hollywood Reporter. NBC also pulled the plug on its Night Court remake after three seasons.

Lopez vs Lopez starred comedian George Lopez as a fictionalized version of himself alongside his real-life daughter, Mayan Lopez.

The series premiered in November 2022, and marked a return to broadcast television for the comedian whose self-titled sitcom George Lopez, aired on ABC from 2002 to 2007.

Lopez’s latest series co-starred Selenis Leyva, Matt Shively, Brice Gonzalez, and Al Madrigal. The comedy explored the ups and downs of a working class Latino family from “dysfunction, reconnection, and all the pain and joy in between,” according to the official description.

The first season premiered in November 2022, and season 3 concluded in February 2025. The third season averaged 2.33 million total viewers (with delayed playback), about the same as season 2.

Lopez vs Lopez was produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, in association with Mohawk Productions, Travieso Productions, Mi Vida Loba and 3 Arts.

Executive producers included George Lopez, Bruce Helford, Michael Rotenberg, Katie Newman, and Debby Wolfe. Mayan Lopez and Marc Solakian were producers.

In 2024, Lopez announced plans to retire from stand-up comedy during an appearance on Tamron Hall. He said his comedy special George Lopez: Muy Católico, which premiered in February on Prime Video, would be his last.

“I’ve subjected the American people to enough of my crap,” the now 64-year-old comic told host Tamron Hall. “It seems like the right time.”

NBC also canceled the dramas Found, The Irrational and Suits LA.
