Changes are coming to season 2 of Paramount+ spy thriller Lioness.
The streamer announced the fall premiere date and details about the upcoming season in a press release on Wednesday, Aug. 28.
Genesis Rodriguez joins the series as Captain Josephina Carillo or “Josie,” a dedicated helicopter pilot.
Series stars Zoe Saldaña, Laysla De Oliveira, and Michael Kelly are all returning for the new season, along with Oscar winners Morgan Freeman and Nicole Kidman.
“As the CIA’s fight against terror moves closer to home, Joe (Saldaña), Kaitlyn (Kidman), and Byron (Kelly) enlist a new Lioness operative to infiltrate a previously unknown threat,” according to the official description.

Created by Taylor Sheridan, Lioness is inspired by an actual U.S. military program using female soldiers and follows the life of Joe while she attempts to balance her personal and professional life as a key player in the CIA’s war on terror.
The first season ended with Cruz (De Oliveira) assassinating a terrorism financier during a lengthy undercover operation. After completing the mission, she turned against her recruiter and handler Joe, for pushing her to the limits physically and emotionally.
In season 2, Joe will be forced to deal with personal issues that arose as a result of her work as director of the Lioness program.
“Joe is taking time off, which is what she wanted,” Saldaña told People magazine about the new season. “She is spending time mending her marriage and rehabilitating her relationship with her daughter. She’s just spending time with her family.”
The series also stars Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, James Jordan, Austin Hébert, Jonah Wharton, Thad Luckinbill, and Hannah Love Lanier.
The action-packed drama is executive produced by Taylor Sheridan, David C. Glasser, Zoe Saldaña, Nicole Kidman, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, Jill Wagner, David Lemanowicz, Geyer Kosinski, Michael Friedman and Keith Cox and distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
The series is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios exclusively for Paramount+.
The first season set a new record as the most-watched worldwide series premiere on Paramount+ at that time.
Season 2 of Lioness premieres Sunday, Oct. 27 with two episodes, on Paramount+ in the U.S. and international markets where the service is available.
