Lee Daniels’ upcoming supernatural horror thriller The Deliverance starring Andra Day, Mo’Nique and Glenn Close has an official premiere date.

The star-studded film will be released in August, Netflix announced on Monday, June 10.

The thriller, which was previously titled Demon House, centers on an Indiana family that experiences demonic occurrences and believes their house is a portal to hell.

Day leads the cast as Ebony, a single mother who tries to give her family a fresh start by moving into a new home. After strange occurrences begin to happen, a social worker (played by Mo’Nique) from Child Protective Services arrives to investigate.

“Ebony soon finds herself locked in a battle for her life and the souls of her children,” according to the official description.

The movie is based on the true story of Indiana woman Latoya Ammons, who along with her three children said they were possessed by demons leading to a case involving the Gary Police Department and the Department of Child Services.

The Deliverance also co-stars Anthony B. Jenkins, Miss Lawrence, Demi Singleton, Tasha Smith, with Omar Epps, Caleb McLaughlin, and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor.

This is the latest project Daniels and Mo’Nique have worked on together since they settled a years-long feud over the promotional campaign for Precious (2009). The actress and comedian accused the filmmaker of blacklisting her in the entertainment industry after she refused to take part in awards season events promoting the Oscar-winning film.

The two finally made amends in 2022. Since then, they teamed up on the 2023 BET+ horror film, The Reading, which Mo’Nique starred in and Daniels executive produced.

The Deliverance is written by David Coggeshall (The Family Plan) and Elijah Bynum (Magazine Dreams). Daniels directs and produces.

Tucker Tooley, Pamela Oas Williams, Jackson Nguyen, and Todd Crites are also producers. Executive producers include Jackie Shenoo, Hilary Shor, Greg Renker, and Gregoire Gensollen

The film arrives in select theaters on Aug. 16 and begins streaming on Netflix Aug. 30.
