Three years after Disney+ announced a Lando Calrissian series was in the works, the show still hasn’t debuted and the writer says he has no clue when it will move forward.
Lucasfilm is developing the Star Wars series, but Justin Simien — who penned the script — revealed in a new interview that he hasn’t heard from the studio in years.
“I certainly poured my heart and spent a lot of time working with them to put together a really great show. It feels like everybody loves it,” Simien told The Direct. “And, you know, I was told we had to put a pause on it because of scheduling, and the next update I got [was in 2020], some years ago. So I don’t know, I have no idea what’s going on with it.”

Simien made the comment while promoting his latest project, the Disney film Haunted Mansion.
His update followed comments by Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy, who in April told attendees at the Star Wars Celebration “it’s still happening,” and seemingly confirmed that Donald Glover would lead the cast.
Meantime, Glover told GQ earlier this year that he’s looking forward to taking Lando from the film Solo: A Star Wars Story to streaming — if it’s done right.
“I would love to play Lando again, it’s a fun time to be him. It just has to be the right, it just needs to be the right way to do it,” Glover said. “I’m not interested in doing anything that’s just gonna be like a waste of my time or just a paycheck. I’d much rather spend time with people that I l enjoy. So it just has to be the right thing, which I think it could be. I mean Lando is definitely somebody I’d like to hang out with. I mean, we’re talking about it. That’s as much as I can say without Kathleen Kennedy like, hunting me down.”
As for Simien, his new movie Haunted Mansion stars LaKeith Stanfield, Rosario Dawson, Owen Wilson, Tiffany Haddish, Danny DeVito, Bruce Davis, Jamie Lee Curtis, Winona Ryder, and Jared Leto.
Inspired by the classic theme park attraction, the story centers on a woman and her son who enlist spiritual experts to help rid her newly bought mansion of supernatural squatters.
Simien helmed the movie from a script written by Katie Dippold.
Haunted Mansion hits theaters on July 28.
