Prosecutors have called Kid Cudi to testify this week in the federal sex trafficking trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs.
CNN reports the “Day ‘n’ Nite” artist is expected in Manhattan federal on Wednesday or Thursday.
The rapper, born Scott Mescudi, was mentioned in testimony on Tuesday, May 20.
Regina Ventura, who is the mother of Diddy’s ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, told the court Combs threatened to release two explicit videos of her daughter after he learned she was dating Kid Cudi.
The music mogul became enraged and insisted he be repaid money he’d spent on his on-off girlfriend’s career, Ventura said.
“Sean Combs demanded $20,000. He said to recoup losses due to Mr. Mescudi, from my husband and myself,” she testified.
Combs’ demand was unusual, considering the 10-album recording contract he signed Cassie to when she was a teenager.

Ventura said she and her husband obtained a home equity loan and sent the money to Combs via wire transfer. Days later, the mogul returned the funds, which the couple had not expected.
The defense declined to cross-examine Regina Ventura, letting her claims stand.
Last week Mescudi’s name also came up over the four days Cassie was on the witness stand.
The singer and actress said Diddy introduced her to the rapper. Once they started dating, she used a burner phone to communicate with Mescudi so Combs wouldn’t find out.
During a “freak off,” she said Combs discovered the burner phone, went through it and lost his temper. Per Cassie, the mogul lunged at her with a wine opener in his hands, but she ran away.
She said eventually he found her, kicked her in the back, and left her with bruises. “Sean said he was going to hurt the both of us,” Cassie testified.
She traveled out of the country with the Bad Boy Records founder. During the trip, she said he issued a threat telling her: “Scott’s car would be blown up.”
In the 35-page rape and sex trafficking civil lawsuit Cassie filed against Combs in November 2023, she said the mogul made good on the threat in 2012, and “Kid Cudi’s car exploded in his driveway.”
In a statement sent to The New York Times in response to the lawsuit, a spokesperson for Kid Cudi said, “This is all true.”
Combs denied the allegations in the lawsuit, but settled after one day.
During her testimony, Cassie said she received a $20 million settlement from the music mogul and his companies.
Combs, 55, is charged with five felony counts. He pleaded not guilty to all charges. If convicted on all counts he faces up to life in prison.
The defense has said the producer and rapper never sexually abused anyone and all of the sex acts he engaged in were consensual.
