Kevin Hart will not host the Oscars this year.
Hart delivered his final message during a Wednesday morning interview with Good Morning America‘s Michael Strahan, saying “no” when asked if he’ll give the Academy another chance.
The comedian — who was there to promote his new film, The Upside — said he won’t have enough time to prepare material for the Sunday, Feb. 24 show.
“It’s hard to predict what can happen,” he added. “I don’t want people to think there’s a thing about me and the Academy.”

Hart also made it clear that he’s done apologizing for the old homophobic tweets that cost him the gig in the first place.
“I’m done with it,” the actor-producer told Strahan. “It gets no more energy from me. … There’s no more conversation about it. I’m literally over that. I’m over the moment. And I’m about today.”
Driving his point home, he continued: “I have explained how I’ve evolved, which makes me say, ‘I’m over it.’ I’m not saying how I’ve changed any more. … I’m not giving no more explanation of who I am. I’ve done it. … You will not hear me saying anything else about it.”
GMA is just one of the outlets Hart has talked to about the Oscars controversy. The dad-of-three visited The Ellen Show on Friday, and while there, he told Ellen DeGeneres he hadn’t ruled out hosting the 91st Academy Awards.
A Jan. 7 episode of his SiriusXM show, Straight to the Hart, also addressed the topic.
“If the fight from the LGBTQ community is equality, that’s the fight,” the Philadelphia native shared. “The fight is the will and want for equality. I’m riding with you guys. I understand you.”
He continued: “But in the fight for equality, that means that there has to be an acceptance for change. If you don’t want to accept people for their change, then where are you trying to get to the equal part? Where does the equality part come in?”
