Lionsgate has released the first photo of Johnny Depp in character for the upcoming film Day Drinker.
The studio unveiled the image as production got underway in Spain on Monday, April 14, and Depp was almost unrecognizable. The actor had blue eyes and a gray beard. He was dressed in a blue suit and held a cocktail.
Per Lionsgate, the thriller follows a private-yacht bartender (Madelyn Cline) who meets a mysterious guest (Depp) on board the boat. They soon find themselves entangled with a criminal figure (Penélope Cruz) and connected in ways they never expected.

Depp and Cruz are longtime collaborators, after previously working together on Blow, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and Murder on the Orient Express.
Additional cast members on Day Drinker include Manu Ríos, Arón Piper, Juan Diego Botto and Anika Boyle round out the cast.
The film is directed by Marc Webb (Snow White), from a script written by Zach Dean (The Gorge).
“I’m excited to be starting production with Johnny, Madelyn, Penelope, and this incredible cast,” Webb said in a statement to Variety on Monday. “We’re in a beautiful location with a fantastic crew and a thrilling, ferocious story to tell. This is gonna be fun.”
The film is produced by Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, Adam Kolbrenner, and Zach Dean.
The movie marks a return to Hollywood for Depp following his headline-making legal battle with ex-wife Amber Heard. In 2022, a Virginia jury awarded the actor $15 million in his defamation lawsuit against Heard after he sued her, saying she defamed him in a 2018 op-ed column in The Washington Post.
While Heard didn’t use Depp’s name in the column, she described herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse.” Depp said fallout from the op-ed destroyed his career.
