After months of speculation that their marriage was on the rocks, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have officially called it quits.

The “I’m Real” singer filed for divorce from the Air director in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday, Aug. 20, the second anniversary of their 2022 wedding ceremonyt in Georgia.

In the divorce paperwork obtained by TMZ, Lopez listed the couple’s date of separation as April 26, 2024.

The outlet reported the documents were not filed by an attorney. Instead, Lopez filed the papers pro per, meaning by herself and without a lawyer.

While the multi-hyphenate didn’t indicate if there’s a prenuptial agreement in place, sources with knowledge of the situation told TMZ there was no prenup.

There was speculation for months that the couple’s marriage was hanging by a thread, especially after Affleck opted not to attend the Met Gala with Lopez on May 6, even though she was co-chair of the event.

On May 15, In Touch Weekly reported Affleck had “hit a breaking point.”

“He’s focusing on his work and his kids now,” an insider told the outlet. “Ben already moved out and they’ll likely have to sell the dream house they spent two years searching for. They’ll never stop loving each other, but she can’t control him, and he can’t change her. There’s no way it could have lasted.”

The couple appeared to be polar opposites when Lopez pulled back the curtain on their relationship in her 2024 documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told.

The superstar singer was shown soaking up the spotlight, while Affleck tried to avoid the media attention. Still, he said they were making efforts to compromise.

“Getting back together, I said, ‘Listen, one of the things I don’t want is a relationship on social media.’ Then I sort of realized it’s not a fair thing to ask. It’s sort of, like, you’re going to marry a boat captain and you go, ‘Well, I don’t want the water.’ We’re trying to learn to compromise,” Affleck explained.

The two were previously engaged in 2003, but called things off in January 2004.

This was the fourth marriage for Jennifer Lopez and the second for Ben Affleck.
