Jackée Harry will be featured in an upcoming role as a “fabulous woman” on NBC daytime series Days of Our Lives.

The actress shared details about the part during an interview Tuesday on the Today show.

“Oh, she’s FABulous,” Harry told hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager during a virtual interview. “You know I’m playing a fabulous woman, you know that. But I don’t want to give away the storyline because it’s a brand new storyline [featuring] African Americans. They have been at the forefront of hiring minorities, they have a lot of diversity on Days of Our Lives.”

The actress then recalled that her first job on TV was on a soap opera in which she had two lines. Harry recited the dramatic lines for Kotb and Bush Hager.

Harry’s first acting role on TV was on the soap Another World as Lily Mason.

Entertainment Weekly reports the actress will begin filming her part on long-running soap Days of Our Lives starting this month, with the episodes scheduled to air in March 2021. According to a statement to EW, NBC says Harry will play an outspoken new character named Paulina, who comes to Salem to reconnect with her family.

Harry is perhaps best known for her role on the network’s sitcom 227, in which she played Sandra Clark, the neighbor of lead character Mary Jenkins (Marla Gibbs). Harry was a series regular on the show for four seasons, from 1985-1989.

With her role on 227, Harry became the first Black actress to win an Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

She then went on to become one of the stars of the sitcom, Sister, Sister as Lisa Landry Sims.

Harry has had a busy year in 2020, recently starring alongside Vivica A. Fox in the OWN holiday movie, A Christmas for Mary, which premiered Tuesday night.
