Iyanla Vanzant isn’t open to having R. Kelly on her OWN series, Iyanla: Fix My Life.
During an appearance on The Breakfast Club Tuesday, June 4, Vanzant said she rejected the R&B singer’s request to appear on the motivational series because he was in “denial” about his alleged crimes and wasn’t ready to “heal.”
“I’m very clear about mental imbalance when I see it. I’m very clear about distortion in energy when I see it,” she explained. “Not that I won’t work with it, but you’ve got to own it. And I’m very clear when somebody’s coming to me to tell their story, not to get healing.”
The host and life coach continued: “I don’t process stories. I do the healing and I don’t think he was ready. He’s still in denial. Just the mere fact that he was making demands of how he wanted this thing to happen. And I’m like, ‘I ain’t on that committee brother.’”
Vanzant, who has a reputation for telling it like it is, also said she wasn’t willing to give in to the singer’s supposed demands.
“I’m not coming to you, you come to me,” she said about the request. “Iyanla Vanzant ain’t coming to you boo. Not because I’m Iyanla Vanzant, but because doctors don’t make house calls anymore. And he needed emergency triage at this point.”

In February, Kelly was arrested and charged with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse for allegedly assaulting four females, including three underage girls. Two months later, he was charged with 11 new sex-related counts, including three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse against a victim who was at least age 13 and under 17 at the time.
The singer has repeatedly denied the claims against him, as he did in a March interview with Gayle King. “Not true,” he replied when asked about the numerous allegations against him.
Interestingly enough, Vanzant said that Kelly’s team requested a meeting with her before they did King. Reps for the singer, however, have yet to respond to her claims.
