A homeless woman has been sentenced to 35 years to life in a California prison for the fatal shooting in November 2023 of Hollywood marketing executive Michael Latt.
Jameelah Michl, 36, was sentenced on Wednesday, July 10, according to local news station KABC-TV.
She received the maximum penalty allowed after pleading guilty in June to one count each of first-degree murder and first-degree residential burglary, for killing Latt at his home in the Miracle Mile neighborhood of Los Angeles.
Michl admitted breaking into Latt’s home and holding him and his fiancée at gunpoint.

According to published reports, the crime was connected to the 2023 film A Thousand and One, directed by Latt’s friend A.V. Rockwell.
KNBC-TV reported Michl was an extra on the film.
Court documents showed she had been stalking and threatening Rockwell, who obtained a restraining order against her.
Prosecutors said Michl targeted Latt because he was friends with Rockwell.
In January of 2023, Latt posted a picture with Rockwell on Instagram, congratulating the filmmaker on the success of her critically acclaimed movie.
As previously reported, patrol officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 900 block of Alandele Avenue on Nov. 27, 2023.
In a news release, the LAPD said “the suspect remained at the location and was identified as Jameelah Elena Michl.” She had been living in her car in the area, police said.
Michael Latt was the CEO of Lead With Love, a non-profit organization that spearheads social awareness initiatives for influential artists, brands and companies. His clients included Common, Barry Jenkins, Netflix, Ava DuVernay’s Array, and the Sundance Film Festival, according to the organization’s website.
He was a Los Angeles native and grew up in a Hollywood family. He was the son of movie producer David Latt and Michelle Satter, a director at the Sundance Institute.
