Cardwell leaves behind two daughters and her partner Eldridge Toney.

Her younger sister Alana Thompson, known to fans as “Honey Boo Boo,” posted a heartfelt announcement on Instagram, letting fans know Anna is no longer suffering.

“Anna was in so much pain last night, but now as a family we all know she is at peace now. I really don’t know what to say as my heart is completely broken,” Thompson shared. “Watching my 29 year old sister this last year battle this horrible disease hasn’t been easy.”

Cardwell appeared alongside her mom and sister on TLC’s Toddlers & Tiaras, and the spinoff Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.

She was diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal carcinoma earlier this year. According to the Mayo Clinic, the illness is a rare cancer that begins in one or both of the small adrenal glands located on top of the kidneys.

On May 10, Cardwell told her Instagram followers she was undergoing her third round of chemotherapy. “It’s going good and chemo is working,” she shared.

In a July interview with Entertainment Tonight, Shannon gave an update on her daughter’s illness, saying: “The cancer is very aggressive.”
