The nominations are out for the 2025 Golden Globes with Emilia Pérez — a musical crime saga about a Mexican drug lord who undergoes gender affirming surgery — leading the competition with 10 nods.

The Bear dominated the TV categories with five nominations, including best television series – musical or comedy.

The awards will be handed out in Beverly Hills on Jan. 5.

In the acting categories, Emilia Pérez star Karla Sofía Gascón picked up a nomination for best female actor in a motion picture – musical or comedy. Gascón will compete against Wicked star Cynthia Erivo, Challengers lead Zendaya, Amy Adams in Nightbitch, Mikey Madison in Anora, and Demi Moore in The Substance.

Colman Domingo received a nomination for best male actor in a motion picture – drama for his performance in prison drama Sing Sing. He’ll compete against Adrien Brody in The Brutalist, Timothée Chalamet in A Complete Unknown, Daniel Craig for Queer, Ralph Fiennes for Conclave, and Sebastian Stan in The Apprentice.

Acting nominees in the supporting categories included Selena Gomez and Zoe Saldaña both for Emilia Pérez, and Ariana Grande for Wicked.

Denzel Washington received the only acting nod for Gladiator II. Jamie Foxx picked up a nomination in the stand-up category for his Netflix special Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was, which begins streaming on Dec. 10.

The 82nd Golden Globes will be held at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills.

Comedian Nikki Glaser has been tapped to host the show. Her star has been on the rise since she fired off a string of biting jokes at Netflix’s Tom Brady Roast in May. Glaser is nominated in the stand-up category for her special Nikki Glaser: Someday You’ll Die.

Jo Koy, who hosted the 2024 Golden Globes, received a chilly reception from the celebrity audience and on social media. Halfway through his monologue, Koy admitted his comedy routine was flatlining.

“I got the gig 10 days ago! You want a perfect monologue? Shut up. You’re kidding me right?” the comedian said from the stage.

Hopefully, things will go better for Glaser. The Golden Globes air live nationwide on CBS and stream on Paramount+ Sunday, Jan. 5, 2025 at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET.
