Former Cosby Show actor Geoffrey Owens may have booked his next role.
After Owens was job-shamed last week for working at a Trader Joe’s, Tyler Perry took to Twitter to offer him a gig on an OWN series
“#GeoffreyOwens I’m about to start shootings OWN’s number one drama next week! Come join us!!!” Perry tweeted Tuesday. “I have so much respect for people who hustle between gigs. The measure of a true artist.”
Owens, 57, said he’s cautiously optimistic about the offer.
“That was kind of cool,” the actor told Entertainment Tonight. “I mean, that kind of sounded like he was saying, ‘Come work with me.’ I’m so, like, skeptical. Like, really? Are you actually saying come work with me? Because we’ve never worked together before. So, that’s a very, very generous thing for him to say. And we’ll see what happens with that. But, that’s encouraging.”

Last week Owens made headlines when Fox News and the Daily Mail published photos that a shopper snapped of him bagging groceries at a New Jersey Trader Joe’s.
The photos went viral, prompting fans and fellow actors to offer Owens widespread support.
He appeared on Good Morning America Tuesday and said he started working at the store 15 months ago because he wanted flexibility to go on auditions. He’s since been forced to quit because of all the attention.

Owens played Elvin Tibideaux on The Cosby Show from 1985 to 1992. Since then, he’s had roles on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The Affair and Elementary, according to his IMDB page.
Maybe his next job will be with Tyler Perry.
