Bryshere Y. Gray, who plays Jussie Smollett’s brother on Empire, has been arrested in Chicago on a traffic-related offense.
Gray, 25, was pulled over on Thursday, June 13, for a “registration issue,” police told the Chicago Sun Times.
The actor was driving a Rolls-Royce without valid license plates, insurance or a driver’s license, police said. The temporary license plate on the vehicle didn’t match the car he was driving, and Gray was arrested on a misdemeanor registration charge.
Police gave him a ticket for driving an uninsured vehicle and failure to carry a driver’s license. He has since been released and is scheduled to make a court appearance on July 18.

Gray has had a starring role on Empire as Hakeem Lyon since the series premiered in 2015.
Has was one of several members of the cast to sign a letter urging producers to bring Smollett back next season, after the actor was written off the Fox series amid allegations that he staged his Jan. 29 attack.
Prosecutors charged Smollett with 16 felony counts of disorderly conduct for allegedly filing a false police report, but the charges were later dropped.
Earlier this month, series co-creator Lee Daniels confirmed Smollett would not be returning to the show, adding that he was “beyond embarrassed” for rushing to defend the actor when news of the alleged attack first surfaced.
On May 13, Fox announced that the series would be ending after its upcoming sixth season.
