Family members of late Tony! Toni! Toné! musician D’Wayne Wiggins are putting together “a grand celebration of his life and musical legacy,” in his hometown of Oakland, California.
A statement posted to Wiggins’ official Instagram page on Thursday, March 20, said the public event will be an “outdoor festival of music and remembrance.”
Organized in partnership with the city of Oakland, the gathering will take place in May.
“The outpouring of love from fans, friends, fellow musicians, and communities worldwide has been nothing short of extraordinary,” the statement began. “Each message, tribute, and shared memory is a testament to how deeply D’Wayne’s music resonated with souls across generations and borders.”

The statement added that the May celebration is the only officially sanctioned public tribute to Wiggins. It’s unclear if the festival will stream live, although the family said additional details will be announced later via @dwaynewigginsofficial on Instagram.
There will also be a private memorial service for relatives and close friends.
