Comedian D.L. Hughley took center stage Thursday night at the Democratic National Convention, and voiced his support for Vice President Kamala Harris.
Hughley fired off several zingers and took a verbal jab at former President Donald Trump for his comment at the National Association of Black Journalists convention on July 31, when the Republican presidential nominee said Harris decided to “turn Black” for political gain.
“I guarantee you Kamala has been Black, a lot longer than Trump’s been a Republican,” Hughley quipped.

The stand-up comic also got personal, and said he never thought he would be backing a former prosecutor.
After being invited to a meeting with Harris, Hughley said she encouraged him to research her background, which led him to change his mind.
“I was wrong,” Hughley admitted. “And I am so very glad I was wrong, because Kamala you give me hope for the future.”
He added, “I’m here apologizing to the whole damn world.”
“I believe in Kamala Harris,” Hughley told the DNC audience. “She has the vision, the experience, and the strength to lead our nation as the 47th President of the United States.”
Later in the evening, Harris officially accepted the Democratic nomination for president.
“In the enduring struggle between democracy and tyranny, I know where I stand. And I know where the United States belongs,” she said. “We are not going back!”
