Daryl Hall is looking toward the future after successfully undergoing a kidney transplant.

Hall, 79, shared a health update with fans Tuesday, June 23, on social media.

“Hi everybody! I thought you should know that I recently received a kidney transplant from a very kind and generous living donor,” he wrote on Instagram. “It happened a couple of weeks ago, and I’m already starting to feel better. It was, according to my doctors, a complete success!”

The musician concluded his statement by saying he hopes to get back in the studio soon.

“I should be back to normal in a few months, so get ready for more music and lots of Daryl’s House shows,” he wrote.

The Pennsylvania native co-founded and served as lead singer of Hall & Oates alongside guitarist and songwriter John Oates.

The duo got their start in the early 1970s on the predominantly Black soul music scene in Philadelphia, and famously became known for their style of “blue-eyed soul.”

Their hit singles included “Rich Girl”, “Kiss on My List,” “Private Eyes,” “I Can’t Go for That (No Can Do),” “Maneater,” “She’s Gone,” “Sara Smile,” and “Out of Touch.”

Together, they sold more 60 million albums, according to the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Hall & Oates have been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. They also have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The pair went their separate ways when Hall filed a civil lawsuit against Oates in 2023, to prevent him from selling his 50% stake in their company Whole Oats Enterprises LLP, which controls trademarks, music royalties, and the rights to the duo’s likeness.

They settled the case in 2025, according to the Associated Press. The two musicians continue to perform as solo artists.
