Comedy Central’s upcoming animated series Everybody Still Hates Chris will feature franchise veterans Chris Rock, Terry Crews and Tichina Arnold, the network announced Tuesday.
The three stars will reprise their roles from Everybody Hates Chris, which aired from 2005 to 2009.
The revival is described as a “reimagined animated version” of the original sitcom, which was inspired by Rock’s life as a skinny nerd growing up in Brooklyn, New York in the 1980s.
The comedian will narrate the new series and serve as an executive producer.
“I’m very excited to introduce the world to another funny side of my childhood,” the Selective Outrage comic said in a statement.

Arnold (The Neighborhood) will voice the role of Chris’ mother Rochelle, “who is smart, strong-willed, and has a nurturing spirit, but she can also be hot-headed, especially when it comes to her kids. She tolerates zero nonsense, so she quits more jobs in a month than most people do in a lifetime.”
Crews (America’s Got Talent) play Julius, Chris’s father “who is a gentle giant with a relentless work ethic, and cheap. He grew up dirt poor, so he knows the cost of everything down to the penny. He works two jobs to support the family, and on his days off, he takes on a third job.”
Arnold shared the news on Instagram Tuesday with Crews by her side, and said the new show is going to be “so much fun.”
Joining the new series are Tim Johnson Jr. (Saturdays) as the titular character. Ozioma Akagha will voice the role of Rock’s little sister Tonya, Terrence Little Gardenhigh as his brother Drew, and Gunnar Sizemore will voice Greg, Chris’s only friend at school.
Everybody Still Hates Chris was first announced in August 2022. CBS Studios and 3 Arts Entertainment are producing alongside Chris Rock Enterprises.
In addition to Rock, executive producers include Sanjay Shah, Ali LeRoi, Michael Rotenberg and Dave Becky.
“I wanted this job to get free tickets to a Chris Rock stand up show, but we ended up making something we’re proud of that is true to the original series we all loved,” said Sanjay Shah, series showrunner and executive producer.
Everybody Hates Chris, was inspired by Rock’s teenage years. Tyler James Williams — who now stars on Abbott Elementary — led the cast as a young Chris Rock. The series ran on UPN and later on the CW. Created by Chris Rock and Ali LeRoi, the comedy won multiple NAACP Image Awards and was nominated for three Primetime Emmys.
All four seasons are available to stream on Paramount+.
