Chris Rock was so traumatized after getting slapped by Will Smith at the 2022 Oscars that he needed therapy — so says the comedian’s good friend Leslie Jones.

“That s—t was humiliating. It really affected him. People need to understand his daughters, his parents, saw that. He had to go to counseling with his daughters,” Jones recently told People magazine.

The Saturday Night Live and Coming 2 America star mentioned fellow SNL alum Chris Rock during a conversation about her new memoir, Leslie F-cking Jones.

The actress and comedian said she was even triggered when she watched Smith slap Rock on national TV.

“It made me so infuriated,” she said. “You don’t know that I was going to jump in my car and roll up there. I was so f—ing mad on so many levels.”

Smith slapped Rock as the comedian presented the best documentary award and made a joke about the actor’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. Rock ventured off topic and suggested Pinkett Smith would star in a sequel to “G.I. Jane” due to her shaved head. Pinkett Smith previously said she has alopecia, which causes hair loss.

In response to Rock’s joke, Smith became enraged, walked on stage, and smacked the comedian.

Smith later apologized to the film Academy and to Rock. Amid the fallout, the Oscar-winning actor was banned from attending the Academy Awards for 10 years.

Smith said in an interview on the Daily Show he “just lost it” at the Oscars.

“That was a horrific night, as you can imagine,” Smith recalled. “I guess what I would say, you just never know what somebody’s going through.”

In March of this year, Rock mocked Smith during his live Netflix special, Chris Rock: Selective Outrage, and compared the actor to disgraced music mogul Suge Knight — who is in prison for manslaughter.

“Y’all know what happened to me, getting smacked by Suge Smith. Everybody knows. Everybody f–king knows. Yes, it happened. I got smacked like a year ago… I got smacked at the f–king Oscars by this motherfu–er. People are like, ‘Did it hurt?’ It still hurts! I got ‘Summertime’ ringing in my ears,” Rock said referring to Smith’s 1991 single “Summertime” with DJ Jazzy Jeff.
