Law Roach has set the record straight about what prompted him to suddenly retire from his work as a celebrity stylist.
The fashion insider said he was miserable because the work was consuming his life.
“I just started to realize like, I’m not in a relationship, I have never been in a relationship,” he told model Emily Ratajkowski on her “High Low” podcast. “These last eight, nine years, my focus has only been my career, blinders on, so I lost a lot of friends, then my friends don’t live the same type of lifestyle. So we can’t, I can’t plan a trip with them. They’re like, ‘Oh, we’re gonna go to Miami.’ And I’m like, ‘If I’m not working, I’ll come.’ But usually I’m working.”

His client roster has included Zendaya, Kerry Washington, Céline Dion, Megan Thee Stallion, Priyanka Chopra, and Tiffany Haddish. Although he is best known as Zendaya’s “image architect.”
Law Roach said he’s been working with the Euphoria star for 11 years, but she found out about his retirement at the same time as everyone else.
“Okay, so Zendaya it’s four of us, it’s Zendaya, her assistant Darnell, her niece, and myself. We are her core, we are core. And so she calls, she said, ‘Girl, I thought we’d make big decisions together,’” he recalled.
Still, Law Roach said the actress has been very supportive.
“She’s like, ‘do you need me to send you on a vacation? Like, tell me what, tell me what you’re going through,’ and I talked to her about just being unhappy, and being unhappy for a really long time ,” he said. “She was like ‘whatever you need,’ but the internet is cruel.”
The stylist admitted he was bothered that social media users blamed Zendaya for his retirement because of an interaction between the two at a fashion show earlier this month.
“That wasn’t fair to her, and the things they were saying, of course isn’t true, so then it spilled over to my suffering, she started to suffer too. And I didn’t think, I didn’t think that was fair, because she has always protected me in this industry and vice versa,” he explained.
While he’s done styling celebrities, Law Roach said he plans to continue working with Zendaya in some capacity.
