Busisiwe “Busi” Lurayi, a South African actress who starred in the Netflix comedy series How to Ruin Christmas, has died. She was 36.
Lurayi’s family confirmed her death in a statement posted on the official Instagram account of her talent agency, Eye Media Artists, saying she died “suddenly” on July 10.
“We are deeply saddened to notify you of the passing of our beloved Busisiwe Lurayi,” the post said. “Busisiwe passed away suddenly and was pronounced dead at her residence on Sunday [July 10, 2022] by medical personnel.”

Her family said they did not yet know the cause of death.
“The reason for her death is still unknown as we await the results of the autopsy report,” the family added. “We humbly request that you allow us as the family to come to terms with this tragic news.”

In 2021, she won a best actress in a comedy SAFTA Golden Horn Award (South African Film and Television Award) for her role on the series.
The actress previously starred in the TV shows City Ses’la and Wild at Heart.
