‘Bridgerton’ Spinoff on Young Queen Charlotte Finds Its Cast

Netflix has announced the cast of its upcoming Bridgerton spinoff. The Untitled Shondaland project is a limited series based on the origins of Queen Charlotte, and will also focus on the rise of young Violet Bridgerton and Lady Danbury.

A group of original Bridgerton cast members will reprise their roles in the spinoff. They include Golda Rosheuval (Queen Charlotte), Adjoa Andoh (Lady Agatha Danbury) and Ruth Gemmell (Lady Violet Bridgerton).

India Amarteifio (Line of Duty) will join the cast in the role of young Queen Charlotte. Michelle Fairley (Gangs of London) will play Princess Augusta. Corey Mylchreest (Sandman) portrays young King George, and Arsema Thomas will make her television debut in the role of a young Agatha Danbury.

Here’s the official description for the series: “Centered on Queen Charlotte’s rise to prominence and power, this Bridgerton-verse prequel tells the story of how the young Queen’s marriage to King George sparked both a great love story and a societal shift, creating the world of the Ton inherited by the characters in Bridgerton.”

The main cast will be joined by an additional group of supporting actors. They include Sam Clemmett (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child – West End and Broadway, The War Below), who will play Young Brimsley, Richard Cunningham (The Witcher), who will play Lord Bute, Tunji Kasim (Nancy Drew), as Adolphus, Rob Maloney (Casualty), who will play the Royal Doctor, Cyril Nri (Cucumber), who will play Lord Danbury, and Hugh Sachs (Bridgerton seasons 1 and 2), who will play the older version of Brimsley.

Shonda Rhimes is showrunner, executive producer and writer. Betsy Beers is also an executive producer, and Tom Verica directs and executive produces. A premiere date for the series will be announced later.
