Boyz II Men fans will learn the “real” story about the legendary R&B group in an upcoming biopic.
The Grammy-winning group recently sat down with Entertainment Tonight and revealed the film will focus on the highs and lows of their personal and professional journeys, including what fans never heard about their 30 years in the music business.
“It’s going to be real,” Wanya Morris told the ET.

The group, made up of Morris, Nathan Morris and Shawn Stockman, emphasized the film will show the reality behind their success.
“It’s not really much information out there about Boyz II Men,” Wanya said. “We weren’t in the internet age to where everything we did in our lives was publicized right after we do it. It has to delve into those moments.”
“Everything you’ve seen that’s not important,” he added, “It’s what you haven’t seen, what went on in the background.”
When Entertainment Tonight asked who might play the group in the biopic, Nathan Morris said they haven’t gotten to casting yet.
“We’re focused more on the story and eventually we’ll get to the who should play what,” he said.
Shawn Stockman also hinted that the story will touch on the group’s roots and challenges.
“A lot of people know us for the persona we execute which is part of us,” Stockman said. “But make no mistake, we’re from Philly. And we are from the ghettos of Philly.”
Nathan Morris added that their story might surprise people.
“There may be some things that people may believe is unbelievable,” he said. “We’re not putting anything in here that is not what it is.”
Variety first reported a biopic was in the works last year, with the group members executive producing the project.
Boyz II Men debuted in 1991 with the hit album “Cooleyhighharmony,” and went on to sell more than 60 million albums worldwide.
Originally a quartet, the group continued as a trio after Michael McCary left in 2003 due to health problems.
The trio continues to perform together.
The interview is below. The group discusses the biopic at the 5:50 mark.
