The boyfriend of 22-year-old Instagram influencer Beauty Couch, whose body was found last week near a burning car in the Atlanta area, has been arrested in connection with the slaying.

Eugene Louis-Jocques was taken into custody in Louisiana on Friday without incident, according to a press release from the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Sherriff’s officials received a tip from the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force that Louis-Jocques had ties to the parish and was wanted in connection with a murder in Cobb County, Georgia.

The sheriff’s office said Louis-Jocques was Couch’s boyfriend. No motive was given in the killing.

At approximately 4:40 p.m. on Friday, detectives spotted Louis-Jocques driving around the parish and conducted a traffic stop. He was arrested without incident and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center as a fugitive.

He is awaiting extradition to Georgia to face murder, arson and aggravated assault charges.

“Let the message be that we do not take kindly to people who think they can commit a crime elsewhere and try to hide in St. Tammany Parish,” Sheriff Randy Smith said in a statement.

“We were happy to help our counterparts in Georgia by locating this suspect and taking him into custody so he may face justice and Miss Couch’s family can begin to receive closure during this difficult time,” Smith added.

The arrest came after first responders found Couch’s body near a burning car in Austell, Georgia, on Aug. 23.

Officers went to the address where the vehicle was registered and learned Couch was the primary driver and had been missing. Police searched the area where the vehicle was found and located a body that matched Couch’s description.

Couch, also known as Beauty Katera, regularly posted videos of herself roller-skating on Instagram and had over 150,000 followers.

Her mother Kimberly Couch said the social media star was attending college and stayed out of trouble

“She was a sweet girl, she never bothered nobody,” Kimberly told Fox 5 Atlanta. “She was a friend to everybody.”
