Officers went to the address where the vehicle was registered and learned Couch was the primary driver. Her family said she had not been seen since the previous morning.
“Austell Police searched the area where the vehicle was found and located a body that matched the description of Beauty Couch in the wood line,” read a statement posted on Facebook Aug. 24, by Cobb County police.
“Based on the initial scene investigation, foul play is suspected,” the statement continued.
The department’s Major Crimes Unit is investigating Couch’s death at the request of Austell authorities.
Beauty regularly posted videos of herself roller-skating on Instagram and had over 150,000 followers.
Her mother Kimberly Couch said her daughter loved skating and stayed out of trouble.
“She was a sweet girl, she never bothered nobody,” Kimberly told local news station Fox 5 Atlanta. “She was a friend to everybody.”
According to her Instagram page, Couch offered roller-skating lessons to local residents. Family members said she was also attending Clayton State College and had her whole life ahead of her.
“They burned my baby’s car up,” her mom told the TV station. “They treated her like she was a dog.”
Couch’s last Instagram post was on Aug. 19.
Authorities urged anyone with information on the case to contact the Cobb County Police Tip Hotline at (770) 499-4111.
