Black Mafia Family (BMF) co-founder Terry “Southwest T” Flenory received an early Christmas present — clemency from President Joe Biden.
Flenory posted a copy of an affidavit from the U.S. Department of Justice on his Instagram page Friday, Dec. 20, noting that Biden had granted him executive clemency eight days earlier. The post included video of Flenory’s ankle monitor being removed.
In a press release on Dec. 12, the White House said Biden pardoned 39 people who were convicted of non-violent crimes, and commuted the sentences of close to 1,500 individuals “who were placed on home confinement during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Flenory moved from prison to home confinement in May 2020, due to failing health amid an effort by the Federal Bureau of Prisons to limit the spread of COVID-19.

In the 1980s, Terry and his brother Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory joined forces in their hometown of Detroit to found the Black Mafia Family, which eventually became one of the most prominent cocaine trafficking organizations in the U.S.
But the pair’s luck ran out in 2005, when they were arrested for drug trafficking and money laundering. In 2007, the brothers pleaded guilty to running a criminal enterprise. The following year, they were sentenced to 30 years in federal prison.
Big Meech was released in October 2024 and transferred to a residential reentry center in Miami, also known as a halfway house. He will complete his sentence on Jan. 27, 2026.
In 2021, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson brought the story of the Flenory brothers to television with the popular Starz series BMF.
Detroit native Randy Huggins created the series with 50 Cent serving as executive producer.
In a 2021 interview with Urban Hollywood 411, Huggins said he tried to keep the series as authentic as possible.
“I took some liberties, but everything there is based on a story,” Huggins explained. “Obviously, you can’t have people’s names in there. Obviously some of the places may have changed.”
The story follows Demetrius and Terry as they rise from the decaying streets of southwest Detroit in the late 1980s to become one of the biggest crime families in the country.
Big Meech’s son, Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr., stars as his father on the drama series. All American alum Da’Vinchi plays Terry, with Russell Hornsby and Michole Briana White co-starring as their parents.
The Flenory brothers were also the subject of the documentary series, Blowing Money Fast, which aired on Starz in October 2022.
The series featured audio excerpts from Big Meech along with sit-down interviews with members of his family, former BMF members, and celebrity insiders including T.I., 2 Chainz, and White Boy Rick.
