BET has added a new film to its holiday lineup, with the original romantic comedy Holiday Heartbreak set to premiere later this month.
The film stars LisaRaye McCoy (Single Ladies, Ballers), Michael Colyar (House Party 3, Martin), AJ Johnson (House Party), and Maryam Basir (The Chi, Chicago PD). Kountry Wayne, B. Simone and Jay Cole round out the main cast.
Holiday Heartbreak asks the question, “What happens when a player’s past catches up with him?”

The holiday movie centers around Basir’s character, Monica McCoy, who is on the verge of celebrating her 30th birthday, but hasn’t had much luck in romantic relationships. She is eager to spend Christmas with both her childhood friends and her father Mike McCoy (Colyar).
As the holiday season unfolds, Monica fears she has been cursed in love thanks to a romantic entanglement her father had years ago between LisaRaye McCoy’s character, Summer St. John, and Joyce, AJ Johnson’s character.
Monica has to see if the curse will be broken in time for her birthday celebration.
The movie is produced by Tressa Azarel Smallwood, who also produced BET Her’s Women Health Initiative narrative short film series, and Ibrahim Yilla.
Holiday Heartbreak premieres Wednesday, Dec. 16 at 6PM ET/PT.
