‘The Bobby Brown Story’ Scores Strong Ratings for BET

The Bobby Brown Story pulled in solid ratings for BET, with parts one and two of the biopic drawing a combined 4.4 million viewers to the cable network.

The miniseries about chart-topping R&B singer Bobby Brown, his tumultuous marriage to Whitney Houston, the couple’s drug use and their daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown’s tragic death, aired on Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 4-5.

On Tuesday night, the biopic attracted 2.17 million total viewers and a 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demo, according to TV by The Numbers.

The second episode on Wednesday night, brought in 2.3 million viewers and a 1.0 rating, making it the top original cable program in the 18-49 demo.

While those numbers were higher than usual for the channel, they fell below the record highs of The New Edition Story, which averaged 4 million viewers on each of the three nights it aired on BET in January 2017.
