BET Renews Tyler Perry’s ‘Sistas’ for Third Season

Tyler Perry has some busy months ahead after BET announced it would be renewing his drama series Sistas for a third season.

Production is expected to start later this month, according to a press release sent out by the network on Tuesday.

Perry is the executive producer, director, and writer for the series starring KJ Smith, Mignon, Ebony Obsidian, and Novi Brown.

Sistas follows four Black women “as they navigate their ‘complicated love life,’ careers and friendship through the ups-and-downs of living in a modern world of social media and unrealistic relationship goals,” the network described the show in a statement.

Chido Nwokocha, DeVale Ellis, Brian Jordan Jr., Kevin A. Walton, Anthony Dalton II, Trinity Whiteside, and Crystal Renee’ Hayslett also co-star on the show.

BET also recently announced it will air the season two premiere of Perry’s The Oval and the TV debut of his stage play Madea’s Farewell Play on the same night on Tuesday, Feb. 16.

The top three new series for African Americans in the 18-49 demo are all under Perry’s slate: Sistas, Assisted Living and The Oval.

Sistas will return for its mid-season premiere on Wednesday, Jan. 27 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

The show airs Wednesdays on BET and BET Her.
