Method Man, Busta Rhymes, Swizz Beatz, Griselda, and The Lox took the stage at Sunday’s BET Awards to honor DMX with a tribute featuring some of the late rapper’s most popular songs.

Method Man began the performance by rapping “Get at Me Dog” under a lone spotlight. The tribute was curated by DMX’s close friend Swizz Beatz. Other songs included in the medley were “Party Up,” “Ruff Ryders’ Anthem” and “Where the Hood At?”

The songs spanned DMX’s career from starting out with the Ruff Ryders to his posthumous album “Exodus,” which was released last month. Swizz Beatz helped produce the album.

Celebrities and fans in the audience raised their arms in an X motion throughout the performances, and some could be seen wiping away tears.

DMX’s fiancée, Desiree Lindstrom, watched from the vaccinated studio audience.

“Party Up” was the final song performed as Busta Rhymes riled up the crowd. To close out the tribute, an audio clip of DMX praying could be heard while a violinist played on stage. All the performers then raised their arms in the air to make the X motion.

As previously reported, the iconic rapper died in April after suffering a “catastrophic cardiac arrest.” He was 50 years old.
