ABC is putting a lid on The Chew.

The network announced Wednesday the daytime cooking show has been canceled after seven seasons as the network expands Good Morning America to three hours.

“Over the past six years ‘Good Morning America’ has solidified its place as America’s No. 1 morning show,” Ben Sherwood, co-chairman of Disney Media Networks and president of ABC Television, said in a press release. “We believe there is great opportunity for viewers and advertisers in expanding to a third hour.”

The third hour of GMA will air at 1 p.m. ET, noon CDT/PDT, ABC said. Additional details such as the title and anchor lineup will be announced “in the coming months.”

To make room for the third hour, the network opted to end The Chew, Sherwood said.

“While this is the right decision for our business, it is also bittersweet. For seven years ‘The Chew’ has delighted audiences by delivering innovative food segments in an entertaining atmosphere,” he added.

The popular cooking and lifestyle show will continue production through the end of the season and air as planned until September.

The Chew debuted in 2011. ABC described the show as a “party in the kitchen each and every afternoon.” It was the first new series to launch on ABC Daytime in 14 years, the network said at the time.

Over the years, the show won two Emmy Awards and aired 1454 episodes.

It was initially hosted by Iron Chef stars Mario Batali and Michael Symon; Top Chef alum Carla Hall; fashion consultant Clinton Kelly; and health & wellness enthusiast Daphne Oz.

The current hosts are Symon, Hall, and Kelly. Daphne Oz left in August 2017, after announcing she was expecting her third child.

The show parted ways with Batali in December, following a series of allegations that he sexually harassed employees at his restaurants. The celebrity chef apologized for his conduct and said he had “made many mistakes.”
