Whoopi Goldberg says the fireworks that exploded Monday on The View were not as bad as they looked on television.
The actress and View moderator took time out of the show on Tuesday to discuss the viral moment when she told Meghan McCain: “Girl, please stop talking.”

“We’re just gonna do a little cleanup before we do anything,” Goldberg said before starting today’s “Hot Topics” segment.
“Things get heated on this show. If you watch the show, you know this has happened over the years,” she explained. “We’re really passionate, this is our jobs. We come in, we talk to each other. Sometimes we’re not as polite as we could be. That’s just the way it is.”
Goldberg compared the situation to a family bickering at the dinner table.
“You’re gonna be dealing with the same thing when you sit around your table with your family and you don’t agree or someone says something and it goes off the rails,” she continued.
“This is part of what we do. This is not an indication that women can’t sit around and talk. This is not an indication that we don’t know how to deal with each other on camera. This is happening in real time. Stuff happens on this show in real time. And everybody, wherever you sit in all of this, don’t assume that we’re over here with butcher knives under the table,” she added.
McCain then said there are no hard feelings.
“Whoopi and I get along great, I love you very much, I’ve loved you for a long time, you were good friends with my dad, we fight like we’re family,” she said. “It’s all good, we’re not tearing the set apart, calm down, all of you. It’s all good.”
In case you missed Monday’s show, the conversation got heated as the panelists discussed the impeachment process surrounding President Donald Trump.
McCain said conservatives don’t support the process, leading to a tense debate with Sunny Hostin.
“My job here is not to litigate the ethics of it. I’m an ABC political analyst along with being a View co-host,” McCain began. “My job is to analyze the politics of it…”
Hostin interrupted her, prompting McCain to say, “Let me finish, I let you talk. Let me finish.”
At that point, Goldberg scolded McCain.
