Presley Gerber, the only son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and her husband, Rande Gerber, has died at age 27.
According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office website, Gerber passed away Sunday morning, Sept. 20, at a rehabilitation center in Santa Monica, California.
His cause of death is listed as “deferred,” pending until additional tests.
On Monday afternoon, Santa Monica police confirmed the department had launched an investigation into Gerber’s death.
“Santa Monica Police Department officers responded to a report of a possible overdose in the 1000 block of Berkeley Street,” the department said in a news release. “Upon arrival, officers located an adult male who was deceased.”
The department confirmed it was Gerber who died and said the case is being investigated as a “suspected overdose.”
Police said there were no signs of foul play, and the coroner’s office will ultimately determine the cause of death.
Like his mother and younger sister, Kaia Gerber, Presley worked as a fashion model.
“The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time,” a representative for his parents told TMZ on Sunday.
Over the years, he was open about his struggles with mental health and substance abuse.
“Obviously, mental health is a huge thing right now in the world. It’s at an all-time high and low. It kind of goes both ways, sadly,” he said during a 2023 episode of the “Studio 22” podcast.
Presley added, “Having struggled with mental health, depression and some other things that come along with that, I think that whether I help one person or a hundred people get out of that place that I was in at one point in my life, that’s all I need to do.”
He is survived by his mother, father and sister.
