Starz has ordered a new Black rodeo series set in Texas as part of its move into fully-owned programming.

The untitled eight-episode series follows three siblings in Southeast Texas, and the trio’s conflicts over the legacy their mother built and the unfinished business their father left behind.

“Driven by their own ambitions and drawn into each other’s orbit, alliances shift, relationships tangle, and nothing stays private for long,” the official description reads.

Kathryn Busby, president of original programming at Starz, says there’s “nothing else like” the drama on television.

“Messy family dynamics, jaw-dropping spectacle and an undeniable swagger – this is the kind of bold, original storytelling we’re proud to own from the ground up,” Busby shared in a press release.

The one-hour seried is described as being “rooted in Black Southern culture.” Additional details on the cast, the production, and a premiere date will be announced later.

The project joins upcoming crime drama Fightland as the second fully-owned scripted series at Starz after the network split from parent company Lionsgate in 2025.

Fightland follows a formerly incarcerated champion boxer, who returns to London seeking revenge on the crime family he thinks betrayed him. Howard Charles, Nicholas Pinnock, and Deborah Ayorinde lead the cast. Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is an executive producer through his G-Unit Film & Television.

The upcoming rodeo series will be executive produced by Kirk A. Moore (Demascus and American Crime), who is also the showrunner.

Additional executive producers include Mark Johnson and Myki Bajaj of Gran Via Productions, and Tony Hernandez, Elise Henderson and Lilly Burns of Counterpart Studios. Starz executives Giovanna Desselle and Christina Jokanovich are overseeing the production.

Moore is represented by CAA, and managed by Scott Carr, along with attorneys Loan Dang and Nina Shaw.
