Demi Moore is fed up and ready to fight back in the trailer for the upcoming Boots Riley film I Love Boosters.
Moore plays fashion maven Christie Smith, whose stores get ripped off by a professional shoplifting crew, led by Keke Palmer.
“Together we empty out every single metro designer in the Bay Area,” Palmer tells her crew in the newly released trailer.
The women steal from high-end designer stores and re-sell the clothes at discounted prices. Booster Taylour Paige describes their crimes as “fashion-forward philanthropy.”
Moore goes off on the boosters in an interview with the news.
“It’s the Velvet Gang, they’re boosting my stores,” a furious Moore says. “They take my shit and sell it because they’re low-class urban bi–es — with all due respect to urban bi–es.”
The ensemble cast also includes Naomi Ackie, Poppy Liu, Lakeith Stanfield, Don Cheadle, Eiza González, and Will Poulter.
Riley wrote and directed the heist comedy. The filmmaker is best known for his acclaimed 2018 indie hit Sorry to Bother You, starring Lakeith Stanfield, Tessa Thompson, Jermaine Fowler, Omari Hardwick, Terry Crews, Patton Oswalt, David Cross, Danny Glover, Steven Yeun, and Armie Hammer.
The film earned Riley the best first feature trophy at the 2019 Independent Spirit Awards.
His new movie, I Love Boosters was announced in October 2024, and will premiere in March at the 2026 SXSW festival. The film opens in theaters on May 22.
