One of Tyler Perry’s most popular characters is getting his own movie.
Joe Simmons, the outspoken brother of the movie mogul’s Madea character, has been a fixture in Perry’s films for years. Now Joe is setting off on his own adventures in Joe’s College Road Trip.
The Netflix film is scheduled to debut on Feb. 13, and centers on Joe and his grandson B.J.
In an effort to teach B.J. about the “real world,” Joe takes him on a cross-country college road trip. Tensions run high, but life-changing lessons are learned, according the official description.

Perry plays multiple characters in the film and also directed and wrote the script. Jermaine Harris and Amber Reign Smith co-star.
The comedy is the latest project under the filmmaker’s creative partnership with Netflix, which has included the movies Mea Culpa and A Jazzman’s Blues.
Tyler Perry’s Joe’s College Road Trip begins streaming Friday, Feb. 13, 2026 on Netflix.
